How do I determine the zoning for my property?
You can find zoning information by visiting MarinMap; a geographic information system (GIS) for Marin County, CA. Use the Map Viewer link and be sure to activate the Zoning field before entering the property address or Assessor's Parcel Number. After you have determined your zone district, visit the Larkspur Municipal online to review the applicable zoning regulations contained in Title 18 (Zoning).
I'd like to construct a fence on my property. How high can it be?
Fences, hedges, or other screening plantings shall not exceed three and one-half feet in height if located within a front yard or on the street side of a corner lot. In all other locations (side or rear yards not abutting a street) fences and walls may not exceed six feet in height, solid, with an allowance for one additional foot of trellis if agreed to by abutting property owners. Fences and walls in excess of these height limits are subject to fence height exception approval by the Zoning Administrator.
