Inspection Process

All inspection requests must be accompanied by, or have on file, the Marin Health order of April 29, 2020, Appendix B-1 Acknowledgment form

Inspections will not be conducted in circumstances where residents and persons on and about job sites are not in compliance with social distancing requirements and other measures required in Appendix B-1. Construction sites not in compliance with the protocols in Appendix B-1 may be issued a stop-work-order until such time as they are in compliance and may be charged reinspection fees.

The Planning and Building Director has authorized City Inspectors to make such determinations at their sole discretion. 

Inspection Times:

Monday thru Thursday morning beginning at 7 am and no later than noon. No inspections on Friday.

Please call or email for inspection no later than noon the day before. For a Monday inspection, the request needs to be in by noon Thursday. Please leave the following information:

  • Permit number
  • Complete street address, including unit/suite numbers if any. (For commercial include tenant name)
  • Contact name and phone number
  • Day and time that you would like the inspection
  • 7 am-9 am
  • 9 am-Noon
  • Type of inspection requested (for example framing, tear-off, plumbing final, etc.)

Keep your permit active 

To keep your permit active, you must have the work inspected within 180 days from the date of issuance. Permits valued up to and including $100,000 are valid for 12 months; permits valued up to $1,000,000 are valid for 18 months and; permits valued over $1,000,000 are valid for 24 months.
